National Bateman Campaign for PRSSA

The 2023 Bateman campaign worked with the News Literacy Project, a nonprofit organization dedicating to promoting news literacy for everyone.

With a team of four other students, we researched, planned, implemented, and evaluated a full campaign over the course of a school year. This experience gave me valuable knowledge of how to work with a client and maintain their values, while also catering the messaging to the specific audiences involved. Some of our campaign highlights include....

- A homecoming table where we informed individuals about news literacy and the News Literacy Project.
- Organizing a WELLcore panel featuring Belmont faculty and industry leading journalists from the Nashville area. The panel discussed news literacy as it relates to AI technology and mental health.
- Our team went into faculty classrooms and educated a wide variety of students and majors about the News Literacy Project and our campaign.
- We created original lesson plans about news literacy for Metro Nashville Public School teachers and student teachers at Belmont in the studies of English, History, and Science.
- Our campaign was featured in Metro Nashville Public School's blog
