Foreign Language Education

Language

German

Hallo! Wie geht's?

During my time at Belmont University, I had the privilege of studying German up to the intermediate level. While I learned the language, I also fell in love with studying a foreign language and a culture different from my own.

In my Junior year at Belmont, as a part of my public relations research class, I worked with another student to create a research project intended to bring awareness and understanding to how Belmont University students view foreign language and its importance. For our research, my partner and I conducted both qualitative ( individual interviews with Belmont students and faculty) and quantitative research. Overwhelmingly, our research discovered that not only is there tremendous value in learning a foreign language, but that students genuinely want to take courses in the subject. Across many different majors including, but not limited to, nursing, public relations, creative entertainment studies, and music business, students agreed that they wished a foreign language was included in their program of study.

On a personal note, I had the privilege of practicing my language skills hands on in German over the summer before my senior year. I traveled to Germany and Austria during my time abroad. While traveling, I grew my understanding of the German culture and language. I've included some photos of my trip here incase you're interested.
